Modugno is an ancient town inhabited since the VII and VI century BC although the current town was founded during the Byzantine domination. Among interesting places to see the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Grotta, the Dell'Annunziata Church, with its Renaissance facade, the Church of Del Purgatorio, dating back to the mid-XVII century.
Outside Modugno stand the remains of a group of ancient buildings called the Casale di Balsignano with the Romanesque church of San Pietro. Inside the walls of this Casale there are the remains of a castle and the small frescoed Church of Santa Maria di Costantinopoli.
