The territory of Palmariggi was already inhabited in prehistoric times as shown by the various Menhirs and Dolmens that can be seen in the area. The first records of the town go back to the Middle Ages when the Basilian monks started the Greek rites. Later a castle was built and the town of Palmariggi developed around it.
The Castle of Palmariggi was built in XV century. Nowadays only two defensive towers remain joined by a wall.
Among other interesting churches the Madre di San Luca Evangelista Church, in Baroque style with a fine portal and a window above it, also some niches with statues.
