Ostuni is a city of Messapian origins, once called Stulnium. Nowadays Ostuni is laid out on three hills with characteristic whitewashed houses set against the pink-tinged brown of its main monuments.
The most eloquent expression of Ostuni is the Cathedral built between 1435 and 1495 in the late Gothic style. Its main feature is the finely carved rose window with 24 beams.
