Nature reserve of Stornara
The park
The Stornara nature reserve is located east of the city of Taranto. The reserve is the result of two protected areas now joined together: the Nature reserve of Stornara and the Nature reserve Marinella Stornara, at the border with the Basilicata region. The name of 'Stornara' comes from the massive presence of bevies that migrate to this reserve during winter.
Birds that can be found here the purple and the gray heron, the white stork, the wild goose, the royal wail, the raven, the magpie, the robin and the cuckoo.
Among the mammals: foxes, hedgehogs, badgers, wild cats, wild boar.
In the area of this park that stretches along the coast there are also various towers and coastal wetlands.
