Adriatic coast

The Salento Adriatic coast start starts from Ostuni with the long stretch of sandy beach of Lido Morelli with its dunes and Mediterranean vegetation. Further south the cost becomes jugged with beautiful inlets such as the ones of Torre Pozzella and Lamaforca.

Torre Guaceto, going south towards Brindisi, is a WWF protected area with beautiful beaches and protected nature inland. It is a particular preserved are that one should visit

South of Brindisi there is San Cataldo, place with pine woods, a lighthouse of the first years of the XIX century. After this a place called Cesine, this too is a WWF protected area. Going further south in the area of Melodugno (famous place of Menhirs) there is San Foca, a sea resort with a small port.

At this point the coast becomes higher with wonderful marine grottoes. We find here Torre dell'Orsowith its extraordinary white beach, Torre Sant'Andrea a small village and the Alimini lakes (Alimini Grande and Alimini Piccola). Here a long stretch of a sandy beach goes down to Torre Santo Stefano.

South of Otranto one can see Capo d'Otranto and after it Porto Badisco with its gorgeous inlet. Here in 1970 was discovered the Grotta dei Cervi, a rocky cave with paintings dating back to the VI-V century.

Another grotto can be seen going south, called Grotta Zinzulusa. It is a wonderful display of stalagmites and stalactites and it is accessible only form the sea.
