This is the most picturesque and spectacular medieval parade of Puglia: a historical tournament between the town's four districts.

Torneo dei Rioni

This tournament of the districts of Oria is a competition between the various neighborhoods of the town of Oria. Tradition has it that the tournament of the districts was designed by Frederick II in 1225. The competition is based on several races in medieval style where the participants also wear medieval clothes. The district that gets the most points wins the prize, awarded by the Emperor (played by celebrities).

Holy Week

Series of rituals that date back to the Spanish domination in southern Italy. These rites open on Friday before Palm Sunday, with the procession of Our Lady of Sorrows, and end on the evening of Good Friday, with the procession of the Mysteries, which covers every stage of the Cross.

Corteo Storico

Medieval parade of about 600 people acting as noble ladies, knights and courtiers, with the participation of waders, archers, flag wavers, fire eaters and jugglers, and the presence of the royal prince of Taranto Filippo D'Anjou and consort.

Notte degli Imperiali

The Night of the Imperial's objective is to give to the citizens and tourists an evening of culture, entertainment and solidarity.

Visit the Palzzo Imperiali

In 1450 Giovanni Antonio Orsini began the construction of one the most beautiful buildings in Francavilla fontana, the castle, today known as Palazzo Imperiali. It was restructured in 1536 and finished in the XVIII century by the Imperiali family. It is laid out in a rectangular plan with its edges to imitate towers. There is a splendid system of loggias and a richly decorated balcony. Inside the Sala del Consiglio houses a collection of canvases form the XVI and XVII centuries.
