Gargano coast from Baia di Sfinale to Vieste

Sfinale to Vieste

Along this stretch of coast between the Bay of Sfinale and the town of Vieste there are large bays with long beaches, the longest of the Gargano, all well equipped with bathing facilities. The longest are those of Sfinale and of Lombardi. There are, also, some very beautiful and characteristic small beaches but accessible only on foot and often without services. Just before Vieste there is the Degli Aranci bay which is one of the largest of the Gargano.

 

Baia di Sfinale

Inside this beautiful bay, covered with Mediterranean vegetation and a pine forest, there is a long sandy beach with a beautiful blue sea. The beach is served by organised lidos for renting umbrellas and sunbeds and, also, bars and restaurants. On the west side promontory of the bay there is a seaside tower and on the east a 'Trabucco', ancient seaside wood construction used for fishing.

Crovatico Grande

The beach of Crovatico Grande, accessible only through a camping located inland, offers good tourist services such as renting of sun umbrellas, beach chairs, showers, bar and parking. The beach is of fine sand and the clear sea is shallow up to 50 metres from the coast.

Crovatico Piccola

Crovatico Piccola is a sandy and untouched beach surrounded by pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation. There are no services available and can only be reached on foot.

Baia La Chianca

In this bay there is a beautiful beach with fine and soft sand. The clean blue sea has shallow waters up to 50 meters from the coast. At about 40 metres off the coast there is an easily accessible small island called 'La Chianca'. Access to the beach is free, there are, however, services for renting umbrellas and sunbeds, also a bar, showers and toilets.

Baia dei Lombardi

Inside the the Lombardi bay there is a long beach of fine sand, called Scialmarino, with several organised lidos but, also, many free spaces. The beach faces the north winds but it is protected from those from the south. It is easily reachable through the main road from Vieste to Peschici.

Baia di Molinella

The beach located inside the Molinella bay is enclosed between two large and high spurs covered with pine trees and Mediterranean vegetation. It faces south-east and it is well sheltered from the north winds and also, thanks to the high spurs, to those from the south. The sandy beach is easily accessible and offers services for renting umbrellas and sun chairs.

Spiaggia di Braico

This small and characteristic beach is surrounded by pine forests and Mediterranean vegetation. Access to the beach is only possible through a residence located inland. This same residence also offers services on the beach, including bars and restaurants.

Punta Lunga

This very nice beach with shallow waters is accessible only through the village of Punta Lunga. This same resort offers rental services of umbrellas and sun chairs, plus bars and showers. It is protected from the north winds thanks to a long spur, hence the name Punta Lunga (Long Point).

Spiaggia di Defensola

This small beach is accessible only on foot. There are here spaces of free use of the beach but there is also an organised lido for renting umbrellas and sun chairs. It offers other services such as a bar and a restaurant. Very characteristic and not much crowded.

Baia degli Aranci

Inside this beautiful bay there is a long beach called of San Lorenzo. It is easily accessible and located north of the town of Vieste. It offers various services with organised lidos but also vast spaces of free beach. All beach lidos offer rentals of umbrellas, sun chairs as well as services of showers and bars. Also available a large car park next to the beach.

Vieste

Vieste is a medieval town with narrow streets and whitewashed houses typical of this part of south Italy. It is a charming town with a tower located at Punta San Francesco and a lighthouse that looks out from the S. Croce cliff. The town also has a castle built by Frederick II in 1240.
